Projekt opracowany przez trzech absolwentów Wydziału Mechatroniki PW, mgr. inż. Tomasza Raczyńskiego, mgr. inż. Piotra Waltera i mgr. inż. Dominika Baranieckiego, zajął pierwsze miejsce w krajowym etapie konkursu o Nagrodę Jamesa Dysona. Inteligentny opatrunek będzie szansą na skrócenie procesu gojenia ran przewlekłych, z którymi zmaga się ok. 20 mln osób na świecie.
Najważniejszymi elementami doboru najlepszej metody leczenia ran przewlekłych są ocena stanu gojenia się rany oraz wykrycie stanu zapalnego. Problem jest o tyle poważny, iż to właśnie z powodu powikłań w leczeniu ran przewlekłych 28 proc. chorych umiera.
– Podczas rozmów z medykami zdaliśmy sobie sprawę ze skali problemu. Prawidłowe i szybkie wykrycie zaburzeń procesu gojenia rany i rozwoju drobnoustrojów chorobotwórczych nie tylko skraca proces leczenia, ale umożliwia zatrzymanie niebezpiecznej dla życia infekcji – podkreśla mgr inż. Dominik Baraniecki.
Projekt inteligentnego rozwiązania zrodził się podczas maratonu pracy nad własnymi pomysłami badawczymi zgłoszonymi przez zespoły doktorantów „MedTech-Athonu”.
– W niespełna 48 godzin opracowaliśmy ideę i technologię SmartHEAL. Od tego czasu ciężko pracowaliśmy i stworzyliśmy nasz pierwszy prototyp – powiedział mgr inż. Tomasz Raczyński, obecnie doktorant Politechniki Warszawskiej i lider zespołu.
Na czym polega opracowana przez naukowców technologia?
Technologia SmertHEAL polega na zintegrowaniu inteligentnego czujnika pH z opatrunkiem na rany. To właśnie dzięki monitorowaniu wartości pH oceniany będzie stan rany, przede wszystkim pod kątem obecności infekcji w ranie. Dzięki temu, że dane te otrzymamy bez zdejmowania opatrunku, unikniemy w ten sposób naruszenia tkanek.
– Pomiar działa w oparciu o sensor elektrochemiczny. Wysięk z rany dociera do dwóch elektrod – referencyjnej oraz wskaźnikowej z warstwą czułą na zmiany poziomu współczynnika. Kwasowość lub zasadowość odczynu jest wyznaczana na podstawie różnicy potencjałów elektrod. Następnie za pomocą anteny RFID wynik jest odczytywany przez pacjenta lub personel medyczny. Dzięki odczytowi RFID opatrunek nie potrzebuje wbudowanego zasilacza ani baterii – wyjaśnił mgr inż. Piotr Walter, doktorant PW i pracownik CEZAMAT-u.
– W naszych pracach badawczych opracowaliśmy szereg autorskich, nowatorskich kompozytów do wytwarzania elektroniki techniką sitodruku, wykorzystując materiały takie jak nanorurki węglowe, grafen czy płatki srebrowe. Połączenie technologii sitodruku oraz termostransferu w dziedzinie wytwarzania czujników jest niekonwencjonalnym podejściem, które daje szansę na opracowanie rozwiązań sensorycznych w dostosowanej przemysłowo technologii – umożliwiając szybkie przejście z akademickiego prototypu do komercyjnego produktu – dodał mgr inż. Tomasz Raczyński.
